Invitation Prototype
BJ CRAFT is continuing its history of designing airplanes for the wide range of precision aerobatics fliers.
The G2 design target is for easy, comfortable flight.
Competition pilots will see that they can easily improve their contest performance since they are able to build on
their experience without learning to adapt to a difficult airplane.
The G2 design allows a pilot to focus on the maneuvers and to realy on the stability of the airplane in order to
improve their flying.
The first generation of BJ CRAFT designs were seen by many to be easy to control for the main elements of
FAI and AMA pattern schedules, and they also performed well at snap rolls and the more complex maneuvers in FAI.
BJ CRAFT took this experience and invested a lot of time and effort to further balance the flight performance.
The G2 design brings this balance to the flyer so he can improve his scores even with standard equipment.
BJ CRAFT established the new design standard through lab testing and gathering the feedback from
the 1st generation aircraft flight testing of pilots worldwide.
This 2nd generation (G2) aircraft will provide a good feeling with a well balanced performance from
the maiden flight onward.
#Outstanding self tracking (Reduces the amount of wind correction needed)
From the 1st to the 2nd generation, BJ CRAFT¡¯s ambitious challenge was to make an airplane which
maintains tracking by itself in any wind condition.
The G2's new design achieves this and enables the airplane to self correct in level or vertical maneuvers.
The goal is to make an airplane which does not need any wind correction ultimately.
This improved self wind correction enables the plane to fly stable at lower air speeds.
#Slower and more comfortable
In keeping with the latest F3A flying trend, aircraft really need to be able to fly slow at a comfortable and even pace.
The G2¡¯s side area of the fuselage is designed to be larger than the total area of the main wings and canalizer.
This aids in improved overall tracking and allows a slower and comfortable pace even in slow rolls,
knife edge and 45 degree lines.
You are able to concentrate on your maneuvers rather than on excess corrections.
The large side area of the fuselage is really at the limit of what is feasible for current F3A rules.
This gives the absolute maximum advantage possible for a fuselage under the current rules.
#Different climates and conditions are all covered by the G2 design.
The G2 design was completely tuned such that the airplane will not need much knife edge mixing no matter
where you fly in the world.
You will see that almost no mixing is required if the recommended trimming and setup is followed.
#Perfect interaction with programmable mixing
In order to design the best overall airframe, it is necessary to,
first, design the plane that is perfectly balanced in geometry and to prove this with continuous test.
Second, the design must be able to handle programmable mixing effects without negative effects.
In your maiden flight if you set the C/G as BJ recommended,
you shall doubt that "Why mixing is needed?" in spite of such good flying and
also feel that this plane is the best plane
in its performance out of the planes you ever experienced.
In addition to it you shall feel that how well balanced it is in all detailed part if you fly the plane more and more.
You may agree with my opinion that if you fly more than 100 flights correcting flight attitude in detail,
you can only concentrate on playing
maneuver
caused by distinctly reduced control input compare to
other planes
you experienced.
The BiSide was the first BJ CRAFT airplane which adopted this concept.
The G2 is a further development in that the flight setting can be completed with only a minimal amount of
programmable mixing.
The design has a large stability margin in order to correct any bad attitude and will not present any secondary
negative effects by using mixing.
You can feel and believe that nearly perfect program settings are possible for the plane.
You are able to set it up once and it will perform consistently at all climates and circumstances.
The G2 will be distinguished from other planes on the market.
You will feel the stability and will enjoy the flying characteristics immediately.
# Equipment used in the prototype
The G2 prototype used standard, commonly available components.
Mid range gear, such as motor and servos, were used in order to show that the G2¡¯s forgiving design results in
less difference between premium grade equipment and standard grade equipment.
In order to achieve this, BJ CRAFT designed a wider stability margin.
For example, the hinge line and trailing edge of the wing were designed such that in case there is some ¡°play¡±
in the servo gear train it will have minimal effect on the flight performance.
Similar to the Built-in-Expo inherent in the flying stabilizer,
the concept of an aerodynamic design which enables pattern flying even with 0% Expo has been adopted
# Canalizer effects
BJ CRAFT has conducted research and testing of canalizer airplanes beginning with the development of
the Episode and which has continued into the G2 design.
The main purpose of this research was to systematically gather the necessary numerical data which allowed
the design of the geometry of the plane by aerodynamic calculation only.
The true function of the canalizer has been modelled and design functions were verified prior to flight testing.
BJ CRAFT was able to accumulate the necessary coefficient in order to design the geometry of the plane and to
identify the characteristic of the canalizer.
You will feel it and will be confident that the stability and trim settings will be as good as that of any monoplane
even though the canalizer is relatively larger.
The G2 design brings all the merits of the canalizer without the demerits for a great flying performance.
#Yaw stability and yaw stabilizer
From now on BJ will name
¡°
stab fence
¡±
into
¡°
yaw stabilizer
¡±
BJ CRAFT is confident that you will be highly impressed by the stability of the G2 design.
The 1st generation of BJ CRAFT designs were designed to minimize the tradeoffs between area, stability and maneuverability.
Yaw stability was balanced in order to allow easy correction of heading if a flier was off track.
The G2 improves the yaw stability and reduces losses when the plane is pitching.
Addition of a yaw stabilizer (stab fence) adds further stability and can be added without any negative effects.
